Interesting Book Cover

In my opinion, this book is interesting because of several reasons. First, it keeps simple although there are many images are being used. Second, the incorporation of images is blending well without leaving the sense of art. Third, although there are many elements on it, the title is still readable easily.

Book Cover Project Re-designed

In my opinion, this book cover needs to be re-designed. The theme is too simple for a web design book. I think it could be improved with interesting images as background or repositioning the title. The author is Dan Cederholm, a web designer expert, especially in CSS development. He is the founder of simplebits, a web design studio and basically is running a business in web design world, for example: web re-design, publication and consultation. The competition in computer book is high because of the computer industry is growing fast and the book market in this area is very tight.

Emotion in color

This design is obviously manipulating color to suggest emotional and burning feeling. Strong red lines with black background make a good combination and the image of a person really stands out. What makes this design very interesting is that how it can affect audience to have certain mood or emotion as if we can really feel it.

Color in Use

This colorful picture describes the relationship between color and the psychological effect that it might give to us, the viewers. These bright colors are often associated with warm feeling and they are being used as elements which incorporated with motion. It's very interesting to understand how the color can be an effective way to create a certain feeling, since color originally is something that we see, not something that we feel. What do you think?

Ad Project

This is my example for advertisement project. I found it on a local newspaper. It's an ad of "It's Brothers Bar & Grill" which is located on Green st, Champaign. The main business is including selling food & beverage and a place for entertainment. There are several places which offering relatively the same idea, for example: Chili's Grill & Bar, Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar and Pia's Sports Bar & Grill. I think what is disturbing about this ad is mainly because of typographical error on the headline with big letters that everyone can see. It should be "Welcome Back Students!" because it seems not intentionally made that way. It uses big fonts in order to attract readers but it's too crowded, although there is a balance composition with 2 big frames and the logo on top center of the ad.

Illusion of Depth

In my opinion, this pictures applies a good concept of illusion of depth. It has one-point perspective which manipulates the distance and the result is an illusion of a very long distance as if an endless journey through the tunnel.
What makes this picture interesting is that we can feel the presence of an imaginary line (horizon) and how it makes this picture so dramatic.
